Idea Napkin No. 1

1) I am a college student at the University of Florida. When it comes to my talents, I am good at seeing good ways to promote a product through social media outlets. My aspirations would be to start up an app that could help me and ultimately everyone. If I were to start this business it would not play a significant role in your life because it’s not something I am patient about.
2) My product is an application that can be on your phones to put all our credit cards into. Therefore when you go to purchase something at the grocery store all they have to do is scan the bar code on your phone to purchase the product.
3) I am offering this product to anyone with a smart phone. Also, it would be individuals who also have a credit or debit card.
4) The customers will find this app valuable to them because it will be a way more convenient way to purchase goods.
5) This app sets me apart from everyone else because it is something that is currently not invented yet.

I do believe all of these elements fit together for the success of my application that will store your credit/debit card information on and allow you to purchase items without having the credit card itself. This is a much easier and simplistic method for the exchange of goods. In regards to the customers, the need for this item, why customers care, and core competencies of this unmet need I believe they all fit together. When it comes to myself and the skills, experiences, and talents I possess I believe is the weaker point to this business concept. I feel I do not have the skills or knowledge to make this business concept a success.

  1. Kelly,
The idea of creating an application on your phone with the capability of storing credit card information for purchasing goods, is not a new idea. However, your idea would revolutionize the way it is currently being done. Today, the major two apps are Apple and Samsung, each only storing one credit card. If you had the capability like you describe, it would allow you to choose what card to use, in essence to avoid maxing out that one card, ha. I feel that you might have an uphill battle against your competitors, but maybe you can sell to one of them, leaving you in good shape.

  2. Hi Kelly,

ckeithUF is right about not being a new idea, however, this does not mean it isn't a good one! I think that there is still a lot of improvement to be done with this application and with some new fresh ideas, it could improve it immensely. Also, with the social media skills you spoke of, you could well-promote your product and potentially have great success. Good work!

  3. Kelly, I think your new idea for storing your credit card information in a better way than what we already have is a great idea. I can tell you put a lot of time into this and it shows in a positive way. I think that you are really onto something with this and it is a great opportunity to explore. Keep up the good work and great job!

  4. Hey Kelly,

As our classmates have already pointed out, storing credit cards is not a new idea for applications. However, you could implement this idea in a better way using the skills you acquired in this class. You could talk to customers about their shopping behaviors and ask them for ways in which the existing apps could be improved. Good Luck!
